South Pasadena Christian Church’s Faith and Service Teams

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10

Our Basic Purpose

Members and visitors choose a Faith and Service Team based on where they want to serve. Teams include: Prayer Team, Convalescent Team, Transition Team, and the Homeless Team.

Consistent with God’s mission for the Church (Ephesians 4:11-13), faith and service teams exist for two main purposes:

Building Faith:

To help believers reach unity in the faith and knowledge of the Son of God by developing significant Christian relationships centered around the study of God’s Word (Ephesians 4:13; Hebrews 10:24-25).

Opportunity to Serve:

To equip the people of God for works of service by living out together Jesus’ teaching that we must care for the “least of these” (Ephesians 4:12; Matthew 25:34-40).

On Faith Weeks, we take time to share what is happening in our lives. The sharing is informal and personal, as our teams provide a safe and comfortable environment. This is also a time to share experiences, God-moments, insights or prayer requests related to the previous week’s on-site ministry experience. We also study a portion of God’s Word that relates to the previous weekend’s sermon. Our goal is to learn how to apply and live out our Christianity in our day-to-day experiences and relationships.

On Service Weeks, the teams meet onsite at the place where they serve (i.e. the Convalescent Hospital, the Transition facility, the Homeless facility, or at the church for Prayer). Team meeting details are specific to each location and group (See Team Leaders for details).

Faith & Service Teams

PRAYER TEAM

Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. Meets every week at the church, alternating between Bible Discussion and Prayer for our ministries and people in need. We also meet via Zoom. Contact us for Zoom information.

HOMELESS TEAM

Currently paused – Will resume soon.
Wednesday evenings. Meets every week, alternating between Bible Discussion in South Pasadena at 6:30 pm and Service at the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles at 5:30 pm.

CONVALESCENT TEAM

Currently paused – Will resume soon.
Sunday afternoons at 1:30pm. Meets every week, alternating between Bible Discussion and Service at the church and at the York Healthcare & Wellness Center in Highland Park.

TRANSITIONS TEAM

Currently paused – Will resume soon.
Saturday afternoons at 3pm. Will meet every week alternating between Bible Discussion and Service.
